Rarely are their comments reflect the findings of the definition, similarities and differences between the two. It gives the public the impression that they are two separate concepts. This is partly true and partly false.
Hypnosis has been defined in various ways. Many governments, such as the American Medical Association, explained that hypnosis is the altered state in which the subject is highly suggestible. Others talk about better access to subconscious , a term which I often inaccurate as an object concept. One definition that I prefer that hypnosis is a condition in which a person's critical faculty is bypassed and selective thinking can happen. It was David Elman definition. There is another definition that I like better - one that is based on the traditional thought, and recent innovations in the mind / body health and neurology. According to this train of thought, hypnosis is a process in which resistance to change is reduced and selective thinking is becoming more efficient. It seems that the final definition in detail explains why the phenomenon works. Keep in mind that with this view altered state of can happen. However, it is not a requirement.
and guided imagery where they fit in? First, let's define it. Guided imagery process as well. In this case, the therapist - or a person who uses his imagination without the help - imagine the experience of a series of pictures. This experience can be more than just visually. They can also include sounds, smells and tastes. It can be reasonably assumed that the number of images have general topics such as weight loss, dealing with pain, stopping bad habits, increase the rate of wound healing, etc. The images can be very direct and specific - like visualizing healing wounds faster - or metaphorically - as a visualization of the garden is growing as a parallel communication symbolizes health and many other topics
.other hypnotherapists and hypnosis practitioners are very familiar with guided imagery as it often during the session. After his subjects to the point that resistance to change is reduced, which is a byproduct of the induction step, then they can use guided imagery eloquently propose alternatives. May they then choose to add a specific and direct suggestions. When I was first taught by Topher Morrison, DCH, and Richard Nieves, Ph.D., I was instructed to start with a short induction, and then do an extremely long guided imagery session. My subsequent study of the works of David Elman and Milton H. Erickson, MD, I quickly weaned off this method. However, I still sense incorporate guided imagery in a much shorter session.
So what's the difference between the two? For many people it's just a matter of semantics. Many clinicians believe that using the term "guided imagery to our clients and patients more acceptable process. What they are doing is wrong and hypnosis process so as not to scare them. Others will use guided imagery and hypnotic completely omit any variables. In fact, I know of one popular licensed professional counselor who sells a series of professionally guided imagery CD and claiming to solve a myriad of diseases - both mental and physical
.Here is the bottom line. Guided by the image without the benefits of a weaker alternative to the hypnotic process. mind - and body - will resist change. If you do not believe me, ask yourself how many times after New Years Day and date are still checking with the previous year. You body resists contracting the disease - just as she resists healing. When any pattern, as is customary, it was found to be resistant to change. Therefore, although the ideas, concepts and intent presented during the guided imagery can be wonderful, except the forms of resistance change is eliminated, it will be largely ineffective. What I discovered is when the subject of resistance is reduced, any suggestions given - provided that it does not conflict with the subject will, ethics, morality - will be quickly accepted. Yes, those suggestions may be given at that time through the use of guided imagery. However, often rapid motion is more efficient. For example, if you want to help emergency room patients with acute pain, quickly bypassing their resistance and gives them a quick motion is stronger and more effective than to have them visualize walking through a warm, colorful meadows. When guided imagery has done well as a relaxing and very effective. Clearly, there are times when it is appropriate - as it is highly resistant to many subjects of mental health problems, chronic pain, and long-term treatment - the time that it is not
.Do you use guided imagery to themselves or others, you have a powerful tool that can lead to wonderful changes. If along with hypnosis, speed and depth of possible change may introduce a level of intensity is not available when used alone. There are times that a non-hypnotic guided imagery is more appropriate. Most hypnotic strategies - that include waking hypnosis - a risk that a person's ability to sense space and time can cause unsafe condition. Therefore, using hypnosis while driving or operating machinery is not recommended. However, playing a non-hypnotic guided imagery in the background while doing other activities could reasonably be desired boost mental programming. However, users still need to be warned that such use can still lull them into a mental state, apart from full consciousness.
the ability to use imaginative powers of the human superior frontal lobe is an incredible advantage. It is available as a powerful tool that can affect the mind and body. Individuals who correctly used this technique should be aware that it is available as an intensive tool for change, provided it is used in conjunction with hypnosis, or as a supplement when they do not.
